Want to be part of the WWHS Players?
STEP ONE: SIGN UP FOR AN AUDITION
EVERYONE must complete an audition on
Monday, September 30 OR Tuesday, October 1.
BOTH DANCE & SINGING AUDITIONS WILL BE HELD ON THIS DAY!
EVERYONE must attend dance auditions at 2:00 on either Monday or Tuesday (the same day you sign up for a singing audition)
SIGN UP FOR AN AUDITION TIME BY CLICKING HERE!
STEP ONE: UNDERSTAND OUR CREW AT WWHS!
At the WWHS Players, we understand the crew is an important and integral part of our success. The people who are working backstage are just as important (sometimes even more important!) than those onstage.
Just as we expect performers to be at rehearsals, we expect crew to commit to being present at all required rehearsals, not just performances.
STEP TWO: PREPARE FOR YOUR AUDITION
The instrumental tracks are the EXACT same ones we will use for auditions! Make sure you prepare the correct part and are prepared to sing with this track (we do NOT accept auditions sung a cappella or with background voices).
STEP TWO: FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH TECH ROLES
Click on the job descriptions below to decide what you want to apply for. Make sure you are choosing an area where you can contribute to the show, where you will be happy, and where you can push yourself to grow!
CREW HEADS - leadership roles
* Production Stage Manager - position has been filled
* Assistant Stage Manager - 2 positions available
* House Manager - 1 position available
TECHNICAL CREW - running crew, hair, makeup, sound, lobby, etc
EVERYONE is accepted to tech crew but you need
to fill out an application so we have your info!
STEP THREE: APPLY
Submit your application directly to Mrs. Spelman by Wednesday, October 10
(room 151/the chorus room).
EVERYONE is accepted to tech crew but you must fill out an application and sign an expectations contract to participate.
If you don't have access to a printer, these forms will be available in the chorus room and/or with our officers.
STEP FOUR: MAYBE GET A CALLBACK
We MAY call back for any lead or supporting parts on Wednesday after the dance audition. Sometimes we ask to hear you read, prepare a solo, or hear how you sound singing with others. Sometimes we call back lots of people and some years we've had no callbacks at all. If you don't get a callback, that does NOT mean you are cut or won't get a part!
All materials (sheet music & readings) will be sent to your school email Tuesday evening if you receive a callback.
STEP FOUR: MAYBE HAVE AN INTERVIEW
We MAY have interviews for those interested in Crew Head positions in early October. This will be to gather more information about those interested in leadership positions.
Interviews will depend upon how many people apply for Crew Head positions and how well we know the extent and ability of their past work.
If you don't get an interview, that does NOT mean you won't be on tech crew or in a leadership position!
STEP FIVE: ACCEPT YOUR ROLE
The cast list will be emailed to you on Wednesday, October 2.
You will receive an email to accept your part or take a position on our technical crew. If you are not cast and wish to be a member of tech crew, you will need to submit an application!
Our mandatory read-through will be on Tuesday, October 9 from 2:00 to 5:00! You MUST be at the read-through or your forfeit your part.
STEP FIVE: ACCEPT YOUR POSITION
The tech crew assignments will be posted on Friday, October 11.
You will receive an email to accept or decline your position on tech crew. We will honor "first choices" for crews whenever possible as we want to honor your talents and interests!
